HOLE: in search of opera without Opera (2011)
Book and collaborators invent a hole where opera once was – or could be. This is the starting point for this ‘opera without Opera’. HOLE was both gap and potential. The artists were both archeologists and architects, bound to releasing opera’s bodies to the void – the soaring voices, the images, the music – in order to restructure new landing sites for its profuse desire.
This new music media performance for voice, piano, electronics and video was commissioned for the opening of Art Stays 9 International Festival of Contemporary Art, Ptuj, Slovenia.
Collaborating Artists:
Lynn Book (U.S.A.), voice, electronics, scenic design, text
Katharina Klement (Austria), piano, electronics, composition
Doris Schmid (Austria/Switzerland), video, visual media
Robin Starbuck (U.S.A.), video, visual media
